Texas
~ Tim Portz (1/17/2006 @ 3:25 PM)

These gadwall were huge. Almost as big as a nice mallard.

Well fellas, I wouldn't have guessed it, but Texas is a nice place to hunt ducks. The lack of water in the state really concentratets the ducks. Additionally, the ducks are in full plume when they get down there, so they are pretty sharp looking birds. On our trip we shot almost 50 ducks (11 different species). I shot my first Canvasback which was a nice moment.

Me and some birds. There is a pintail and a canvasback hen in that brace.

Variety gentlemen is the spice of life.

These gadwall were probably the biggest gadwall's I've ever shot. Huge.

I do look good in t-shirts. Damn.

Drake Pintail. Drake Can. I'd never even seen either of these birds in the wild.
