Scott County Outing
~ Mike Lauenstein (4/16/2006 @ 3:28 PM)

If you look closely you will see a small spec on Dittbrenner's face... That my friends is the eye of a minnow. Yum!

Well, its that time of year again. Time to dust off the open water tackle, go through the tackle box and clean up the boat because open water fishing is underway. The seasons are not yet open, but you can still head out for some panfish action and may run into some other species as well.

We met at Kenny's house at around 6am for some Easter morning fishing. Nic, KP and I all had to go to church at 11, so we figured we could still get a couple hours of fishing in...

With Nic's new boat and a thermos full of Jamaican coffee, we set out in hopes of learning some new water. Scott County in Minnesota offers some great fishing possibilities and we found a lake that definitely has something to offer. Hopefully, next time we won't have 15 MPH winds, 50 degrees and constant rain, but, either way, we were still able to learn a little about a small lake that has some great potential. Nice weed growth and some good shoreline breaks can offer up some great action during the summer. This, however, is spring and we didn't catch shit until the end when we hit a couple bass and the smallest northern I have ever seen.

Overall, we ended the 2006 maiden voyage with three bass, one northern and one crappie. Not too bad for just "getting the dust off!"

Cheers!
