Upper Pennisula Fly Fishing
~ Michael Spaeth (7/5/2006 @ 12:42 PM)

I spent the past 5 days in the U.P. scouting and fishing for trout. It was a ton of fun and the scenerary in the North Country is priceless. Overall we probably caught nearly a hundred fish mostly small brooke trout between 4-9 inches. There were a few nice ones 12-15inches and one real big one 17" but the big ones were few and far between. It was constant action all throughout the day and my wrist and forearm are still recovering today from all the casting.

We scouted a lot which usually paid off but we spent some time chasing deadends as well. I'll tell you what rivers I fished but your on your own to figure out which ones are good.

Rivers Fished:
-Paint
-Ontonagon
-Cooks run
-Presque Isle
-Jumbo creek

All of the rivers provide you with fish, tranquility and spectatcular sceneary so either way it is a win but when you find one full of trout it is heaven.

I've attached a couple pictures of Brown trout below as well as some scenary. Once I get the rest of my film developed I will post those as well.

While scouting for fishing spots I stumbled on a few Hen grouse 3 to be exact each with 5 or more babies. You better believe they are marked on my GPS.
