Muddin' @ the Beaver Station
~ Michael Spaeth (8/11/2006 @ 10:43 AM)
Well, Beaner, Braun and I spent the weekend at the Beaver Station a.k.a my cabin. We brought along enough stuff for two weeks even though we only stayed for 2 days. Good times were had by all but unfortunately or fortunately no one had a camera to document this occasion so it will have to live it through words and memories. (Which is fine by me) The intent of the weekend was to do a little work and have some fun. We brought wood to construct a duck blind, chainsaws to clear some trails, a pump to get rid of the beaver and 4-wheelers to have some fun. We arrived late Friday evening only to find that the Black Hawk (my favorite local watering hole) has changed names and owners. New owners brought new prices, stale tonic, and some of the worst Absolute I have ever tasted. (I won't be going back) We made one more pit stop at the "Hayloft" where Braun and I mingled with the locals and Beaner sat in the corner staring at a group of older womens beer-a-mid and made fun of the one person there that was from Minnesota.
After a mid-night ride on the 4-wheelers around the property and a game or two of cards we decided to call it a night. (If my memory serves me right I thing it was about 4 a.m.)

We were up and at em' (well sort of) by 10 and trying to drag pieces of the duck blind out to the big pond by 11. A few struggles were had and a few tempers flared but we made it.

Mid afternoon rolled around and we hadn't eaten or had any fun so it was time to load up the 4-wheelers and head out. We stopped in Gibson, Gilden, something with a G and ate lunch at a bowling alley. Then we walked to the gas station to get more adult beverages, I took care of business and we headed to the Chequamegon National Forest.

I'll let Beaner or Braun tell the rest of the story and don't forget Dick n' Edna or the FIB's!

"Duck hunting without a dog is like duck hunting without a gun. 4 geese 10 ducks this year and only 1 has gone unfound."
